I'm looking for a few boxes of Cool Kids candy, manufactured by Just Born Inc at one time (the tricky bit has to do with the "at one time" part).
Cool Kids were essentially the same thing as their "Mike & Ike" counterparts -- pill-shaped flavored small cylinders of corn-syrup. Mike & Ikes are fruit flavored. Cool Kids were spearmint flavored.
They were manufactured from the 1940s through the 1980s, at which time the company decided market tastes had changed, and ceased producing them. In 1998, celebrating Just Born's 75th anniversary, Cool Kids were again manufactured in a limited run.
They have since disappeared from retail shelves.
I'm looking for them partly out of a sense of novelty/nostalgia, partly because I thought they were really quite tasty, but largely: I'm interested in seeing if the Net can somehow be utilized to track down something odd and unusual like this. Perhaps lots of eyes can make the search shallow. I think it's likely that if there are still boxes of this candy out there, they exist half-forgotten in the stock of a collector or corner of a retailer's warehouse.
I've mentioned a cash reward in some forums. It will probably not be large -- $20 at most, unless I also become well-employed in the near future.
Feel free to email me at namespanmx@7mmedia.7csoft7.7net, especially if you have leads. Oh... remove those sevens. They're there to fool spambots. And if you are a spammer (or direct email marketer, or whatever you choose to call it), don't contact me and don't even think of putting me on your list. That address is strictly opt-in only.
Here's a few things that Google turns up in reference to the candy:
